Kishore Sahu was a famed actor, film director, screenwriter and producer in Hindi cinema. One of the few persons in the Hindi film industry whose talents were so versatile, Sahu made movies which were not only box-office hits but also won top awards from the All-India Journalists' Association. Mayurpankh, Bahu Rani, Kurwara Baap and Guide were some of his well-known films. Sahu also tried his hand at writing short stories and plays with moderate success.

Kishore Sahu was born on 22-11-1915 in Rajnandgaon in the state of Chhattisgarh, India. He was an Indian Film Actor, Film Director, Screenwriter & Film Producer who best known for his work in Hindi films.

Kishore Sahu's childhood was surrounded by people participating in the freedom struggle. He comes from a Dewan family served the kings of Raipur. In his youth, he also participated in the freedom struggle. He graduated from the University of Nagpur. He developed an interest to write during those days and started by writing short stories he heard and was surrounded by.

In the same year, he got graduated, he found a supporting role in the movie Jeevan Prabhat, marking it as his debut movie. This movie was about caste division in society and has a social message.


He starred in the movie Bhurani for which he was also a co-producer of. He became famous by his debut movie as a director, Kunwara Baap. He wrote the story for the movie and found the first time producer N. R. Acharya to produce this movie. This movie was a commercial success and gained critical acclaim and was praised as Sparkling comedy.

He acted in twenty-seven movies.He directed twelve movies apart from the once he starred in. In total, he directed twenty movies. He produced seven of his movies.

His last movie Vakil Babu released post his death on 22 August 1980. His last movie as a director is Dhuen Ki Lakeer. Teen Bahuraniyan is the last story he wrote. Pushpanjali movie became his last movie as a producer.

Kishore Sahu died on 22-08-1980 at age of 64 in Bangkok, Thailand.
